Write about your favorite activity.  Convince me why I should try this activity and why it is enjoyable.


Basketball is a sport that is extremely fun. There are many different ways to play the game though. Some people don't like basketball because they have to work hard and do things that make them tired, which is very true, the actual game is pretty tiring and tough. Some of the parts of basketball however can be thrown out, you could just play pig with a friend, shoot around by yourself, or you could play knock out with a bunch of people. These games are fun because it doesn't really matter who wins or loses, it is just fun. Basketball also is a great stress reliever, you can go shoot for hours and just mess around and forget about everything that is happening outside of the basketball court. It is fun to just go throw the ball and see where and where you can't make it from. P.I.G is a game where one person shoots and if they make it, the other person has to make it there or they get a letter. It's fun to play with a close friend, because it doesn't mean anything besides knowing you beat them. Basketball is just a sport, but with this sport you can do many things, and have a blast with it. Never making a shot is sometimes embarrassing but they make hoops that you can lower, to where you can stand there and throw it in. Basketball is a great sport for people to work hard at, or even just relax and throw a ball at the hoop. This is why it is my favorite activity.

Writing Prompt 12

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?

If I could change just one thing about life for everyone, it would have to be the way people get depressed. I believe that everything happens for a reason except for bullying. If we didn't have bullying in the world, then we wouldn't have places being bombed, or places being shot up for no reason. Some of that would still happen because of other countries, yes, but we wouldn't have the people that just go somewhere and start taking innocent lives. I truly hate what our society has came to since the past. People didn't have to worry about someone randomly killing them, because they are depressed. I know not all of this comes from bullying, but I'm sure it doesn't help the situation at all. I would make the United States of America a happy place for all citizens, so they can live their lives to the fullest and not take others lives away from them. It honestly is my biggest pet peeve, I absolutely hate when things like this come up in the news, it makes me want to cry. So if I could, I would make the country a happy place for all citizens, knowing that everyone would be much more safe.

What is your legacy? What are you leaving behind for others? (or what do you hope you are leaving behind for others)  Another way to think of this question: how do you want to be remembered by future students? Or do they want to remembered at all? If not, why not?

I want to be remembered by the things I did to make this school a good place for everyone. Like the things I have participated in and done well in. Such as for basketball I want to be remembered as the person who always tried hard and did their best no matter what, or by the one who always showed others the proper way to do things. Showing the other students that being a good athlete comes with practice and also with being a good student in the class room. Always trying to respect the teacher and understand their point of view. Getting good grades is a huge role in any extracurricular activities because if you don't you cant participate. I also want to be remembered as the kid with the color or the unique one. I love being bright and unique. Really shows my personality when I wear bright clothes or say things out of the random. I try and set an example of someone that is himself all of the time. Someone that doesn't act different around other people but the same for everyone to see. I believe in setting good examples of what other students should remember me as.

Writing Prompt 10

What are your five favorite songs at this point in time?  Why?

1. "Started From The Bottom"- Drake  - This song talks about his dedication to something and how him and his team are at the point they need to be in life. I like this song because it makes me think of Red Oak. At first there were a few things we were good at and that was it. This year we were good at just about everything. Our schools dedication and hard work has got them to a better season in the district.

2. "Lose Yourself"- Eminem  - In this song it talks about how you have to forget about everything when your nervous and just have fun with whatever your doing. He talks about being nervous before going on stage for a rap battle and how he gets sick because of his nerves. In order for him to do good he had to lose himself in the moment. Get lost in what your doing so you don't even think about it anymore, you just do it.

3. "Waiting on a Women"- Brad Paisley  - Talking about how he can wait on a woman forever, because they are beautiful and important. I like it because you should learn to wait on people that matter to you not just women. If they are important then you can wait because you love them. I have to wait on a lot of people in my life and this song has showed me not to get impatient with them but to cherish the moments you have while waiting for them.

4. "Call Me Maybe"- Carly Rae Jepsen  - This song doesn't really have to many things in it that make me like it. The lyrics aren't my favorite or anything like that. I just like it because of all the good times I have had dancing to it. All the videos on youtube are really cool and some of the sports I have been involved in have had good times together while listening to this song.

5. "Austin"- Blake Shelton  - I love this song mostly because it about loving someone for a really long time. I like how he leaves a message and explains everything that his going to be doing. At the end of the message he says "and ps if this is Austin, I still love you!" I like these lyrics because it really shows how long someone can actually love another person even though they have left. It is also good because he isn't afraid to show his feelings to anyone that calls, and he is honestly telling the truth.

Prompt 9

If you could create a movie of your life, who would you cast and what would the story be? 

I would cast Adam Sandler as me because he is a funny guy. He does a lot of stupid movies but they are funny and make a lot of people laugh. He also has a heart but is kind of mean. I believe he is just like me in some ways  even though he doesn't really look like me. He knows how to live life every day to the fullest. I try to do this so every day is a great memory. My dad reminds me a lot of Bill Cosby because he is really laid back but at the same time he has strict rules. My dad is pretty funny sometimes but he doesn't like to be disobeyed. My mom is just a unique person and I can't really see any actress being her. I'm sure someone would be perfect to preform her life but I just don't know him. A life as a movie guy would make my life so awesome. Having Adam Sandler be me in a movie would really show what I am like. They would know that I'm very sarcastic but also have a heart and do really care.  

Writing Prompt #8

This quote is a big thing to me because I believe in what it says so much.  I don't want to act like anyone else and I don't need to at all. I love being Tanner Johnson and wearing crazy outfits and being dumb and funny. All of these things I do are because I want to. Being this person knowing people might not like me doesn't bother me because I honestly believe that my real friends will like me no matter what. I don't need to have friends that I need to work to get, my true friends will be there even when I act stupid and dumb. They will be my friends no matter what. This is what the quote is saying, don't change so people will like you. Be the person you always are and the right people will love you. My friends love me because I'm unique, and if I was the same as everyone else they might not like me. So I would defiantly rather be the person I always am.

*If you could meet anyone - past or present - who would it be and why?*  It's hard to pick who I would want to meet because there are so many people in the world. Right now however I would have to say Adam Sandler because he is the funniest actor I have seen. It would be so awesome to hang out with him for an entire day just to hear some of the things he has to say. I love all his movies and I think he is a really nice person. Even if all I got to do was say hi and shake his hand it would be completely amazing. There's a lot of funny people in the world however but not very many people make money to be funny. That's why I would choose Adam Sandler. He also has a lot of money and probably really cool toys so maybe we could see those things. There is a lot of people that I would like to meet, like i said before there is tons of people in the world. He would probably be the funniest guy to hook up with if you could though. This is why I want to meet him, and because not to many people I know can say they met Adam Sandler. 

Prompt 6

What are you most proud of?

I'm so proud to be a Red Oak Tiger. It means the world to me to be from Red Oak, but also be a part of programs we have at our school. I love everything we have and do. Makes me proud to know that people here care about one another. Knowing when I come to school activities or school I have another family waiting for me through the doors. Knowing that people can see what Red Oak is all about and what we do here to keep us going along the road. The school activities get better and better each and every year. I can really say I am apart of something special. There is no other school like Red Oak High school and that means a lot to me, when I can truly say I wouldn't rather be any place else. Many people in the school and in the community want the best for Red Oak and that makes me happy too. We have people that fight for things to come into our town. For instance we have many sponsors of the YMCA and knowing that those people care for the youth of this town, makes me extremely proud to live in such a great community. Every place has its ups and downs but I truly believe Red Oak has a lot more ups. We are like one big family and everyone know's everyone here. This is why I am so proud to be part of something so special such as Red Oak. 

Prompt 5

*What motivates you?* *  

Everyday I am motivated in many ways, some big and some small. The most common way I am motivated is by my family. Every day we wake up we have choices, those choices could change us for better or worse. The motivation I get from my family makes me want to do things right for them. Being a good person all the time reflects on my parents and there parents. The way they talk to me and show me what they do motivates me to be just like them. My friends play a roll in motivating me to be the same kind of friend as I am person. They make me want to be a great friend by the things they do for me. By them being good friends makes me want to be even  better friends to them. They also motivate me to be the best I can be at everything I do. My coaches do that probably the most. Motivate me to do my best and give 100% at everything I do. I also believe sometimes I motivate myself, because when I'm feeling down or in a slump and nothing is motivating me to do anything. You are the only person that can help yourself through it, and in doing so I motivate myself to find motivation from something else and get the job done. I also motivate myself to stick to my plan when I say it. Motivation is really a small thing that you can't just get you have to try for it. Knowing I have sports to motivate me to keep my grades up, because I know that if I don't I wont be playing sports very long. 

Writing Prompt 4

*What is your personal credo (belief)?* * *

My belief is that family comes first. This isn't that big of a deal in my house hold but I think it is very important. Your family need to rely on you in many situations, so if you don't put them ahead of everything and everyone they can't do that. My family barely ever eats dinner together because we are so busy and it honestly makes me sad. I wish we had more time to hang out and do family things together. It's important belief to me because when your in so deep and can't pull your self out, its not your friends that will be there for you it's your family. I mean they don't care no matter what the problem or situation is they will always love you and get you out of it. They could be upset or a little disappointed but eventually they will forgive you, just because that's what family does for you. Also your family is your back up plan when you lose everything such as a house, car, and friends your family is always going to be there for you and they will always call you family. I rely on my family for lots of things and if i ever lost them it would be a catastrophe! I need my family and my family needs me. This is why it's my number one belief in the world.

What characteristics do you value most in a friend? Explain why they are important.


In a good friend things have a be stable like certain things you just do because your that kind of friend. I believe on of those characteristics should be, "being there for them." There's two different things you can do to be there for that person in the right time. I think that being there means you will never leave them last, always putting them first. I know it's hard sometimes but when you can you always do. Also this means you would do anything for them, such as: loaning them money no matter the cost, getting thrown under that bus for them, and even letting them stay with you forever if they have too. Kindness is another characteristic because if they cant be kind to you why would you want them around you. They might joke around with you and things but they will never be mean to you, or do things behind your back when they know its wrong. I also think that they should be kind to your friends and family because if they are a true friend they wouldn't want to make someone that you love upset. The biggest factor in any good relationship of any kind, is respect. Best friends are going to tell each other everything and that friend can't just go around telling everyone about it. You want them to respect your personality and the secrets you share with them. definition of a great friend right there.  

Prompt 2

What does the following quote mean to you?  "You don’t get to pick where you’re from, but you always have control of where you’re going."

This quote is something that can either take you very far in life or lead you down the wrong path. Choosing where you are from, is like choosing what color your hair is before your born. It doesn't happen very often and you can't just change the past with the snap of two fingers. I believe that where you are from is out of your control from the beginning. Your parents decide what kind of a life you have as an infant, and what happens around you. They either show you the road you want to go down or don't want to go down. It is your decision weather you pick the bad or good way. Controlling your future also depends on weather you are a follower or a leader. Followers, follow their friends down the road to a disastrous life and the life no one wants them to be in. You could also go down the future of terror from following your parents, if your parents are bad your more likely to go down the same road. I believe you get out of your life what you put into it. If you try all the time and do your best you are more likely to have a bright future. You can also just not give a crap and those are the people that fail at life and don't have a good life. 

If a handful of people can change the world for the worse, then I am certain that a handful of people can change the world for the better.

What will you do do to make this world of ours, which feels so broken right now, a better place?

So many things have happened in this world that make it seem so terrible, when really it could be so much better. Every day people make changes in their lives for better or for worse, but in some way it changes their lives in a big or small way. You can make a decision to make yours either of those ways. We people make the difference. 

I will try and show everyone that i care even though I might not know them. At least they might feel like they matter, even just a little bit. People do things stupid because they are stressed out or have psychological problems. So if i can be happy almost every day and act like people matter to me, it may help them through their day even a little bit. I believe that if people in school could say hi to someone new every day the world would be a happier place. Their home life might be the worst or best thing ever but their school life can be better and if I can be happy every day and get someone that is in a bad mood or feeling deprived to smile then I will have done a good deed those days. Everyone deserve's to feel like they matter at some point in their life and if the only place they can get that is in school then don't be mean to them, just show them that you know they're their. 

Every body is different and that's what makes this world so amazing. So many types of people and no one is exactly a like another. Just like people say, "Don't judge a book by its cover" that is the same as a human. Don't judge them by the way they dress or act because you do not know them at all. On the inside they may be a completely different person but you will never know until you see them as a normal person, and say hi or talk to them. I love that everyone is different, and I have judged people but I still give them a chance to show me that they are fun and outgoing on the inside, but just a little shy or different on the outside. That's why i pretend sometime's to be happy everyday because the person that is sad might look at me and get their one smile to come onto their face for a couple of seconds. That right their is what I and all of us can do to make this world a better place than it was yesterday.

I have applied to two college's and I was accepted to both, Morningside and Central. I want to apply to AIB and swcc.
